Amazing Podcasts, Awesome Guests: Be there For Live Recordings!

For the past couple years, the Gen Con Writer's Symposium has hosted live recordings of some of your favorite writerly podcasts, and 2016 will be no different!

Have you ever wanted to see behind the scenes of a podcast? Or have you ever listened to one, wishing you could see the hosts and guests as they discussed topics that are important to you? Now is your chance. This year the Writer's Symposium will be hosting two podcasts!

Writing Excuses (www.writingexcuses.com) is a fast-paced show with a focus on writing. They've been going for eleven seasons, first airing in 2008, and is hosted by Brandon Sanderson, Mary Robinette Kowal, Howard Tayler, and Dan Wells. The episodes are fifteen minutes long, because, as they say, "you're in a hurry, and we're not that smart." There is a lot of witty humor, but most of all, tons of fantastic writing information. They welcome bestselling guests to talk about different topics in the writing world, and their 2012 season won the Hugo Award for Best Related Work. You can be there when Howard Tayler and Dan Wells record live on Friday, August 5, from 6-8PM in Westin Chamber. (Gen Con event number SEM1699053, https://www.gencon.com/events/99053)

The Once and Future Podcast (www.theonceandfuturepodcast.com) is a geeky weekly show that focuses on science fiction and fantasy and those who create it. Hosted by fantasy author Anton Strout, the show has been running since 2011, and has welcomed guests like Jim Butcher, Patrick Rothfuss, Charlaine Harris, and more. Guests and listeners have complimented the show's casual format, designed to feel like a conversation one might have with an author at a coffee shop rather than a stilted interview. At Gen Con 2016, The Once and Future Podcast will be welcoming guests Robin Hobb, Steve Bein, Mur Lafferty, and Scott Lynch, and you can watch them talk and ask them questions on Friday, August 5, from 3-4PM in Westin Chamber.
